| Boston Red Sox.I am well aware this line is a bit high. It’s higher than I normally like to go. But I feel this is a good situation for the Boston Red Sox. This is a team that has won eight of their last 10 games to climb within 4.5-games of the New York Yankees, who sit in second place in the American League East. It was just a short time ago the Red Sox dwelled in the cellar of the division and now they’re actually competing, and are on the right side of the playoff cut line. Without question, they are a better road team than they are a home team. This season they are 29-21 as a visitor, and enter this game today to face a team they have gotten the better of. They have taken six of the last 10 meetings against the Athletics going back to April 2024. Speaking of the Athletics, they were a great Cinderella story at the beginning of the season. However, since dominating and sitting atop the West division, they are now nine-games back sitting in fourth place at 44-61. Things just seem to be going from bas to worse for this team. If their hitting explodes, their pitching falls apart. If their pitching does well, they don’t hit. It just seems like they’re shooting themselves in the foot every day. Payton Tolle and Jack Perkins are scheduled. The Boston left-hander has been much sharper than the aAthletics right-hander, without question. With the way, the Athletics are struggling, particularly at home (20-30), combined with the way Boston is striding, I really feel this is a good situation for the Red Sox. Thank you. | ||||||

| New York Yankees.Yes, it’s true, the New York Yankees are banged up. They have been without two of their top contributors for quite a while now in Stanton and Judge. But yet, New York is still finding ways to keep their head above water. They sit in second place in the American League East, just 3.0-games back of Tampa Bay at 59-46. As a matter of fact, they enter this matchup winning five of their last seven outings. They happen to be one of the better road teams in baseball accumulating, a 33-23 away record. And even without two of the best hitters in baseball in the lineup, they still rank in the top-10 in many offensive categories. It has been their pitching, that tops the Majors right now with a team ERA of 3.41, that has kept them afloat. Speaking of which, Max Fried takes the hill today. He pitched well in his first game back since mid-May five days ago at home yielding just one hit in 5.0 innings pitched, and zero earned runs as the Yankees prevailed over the Pirates, 2-0. He’s been good on the road this season, and I expect another stellar performance here today. Very quietly, the Chicago White Sox have taken control of the Central division at 55-49. But they’re starting to struggle a bit. Their lineup has been erratic and their pitching staff has gotten steamrolled over the last week or so. They will send Noah Schultz to the bump. Schultz has earned just one victory since May 1 and has really struggled of late, going 1-2 with a 6.59 ERA over his last three turns. He gives up a lot of home runs and I feel as in real trouble here today. Take the New York Yankees. Thank you. | ||||||

| Philadelphia Phillies.This line is a bit high. But a win is a win, my friends. The Philadelphia Phillies are sitting on the right side of a playoff spot. But even more important to them, they are just 5.5-games back of the Atlanta Braves in the National League East. They have been hit or miss (no pun intended) the last few weeks. However, they’re playing a team they have dominated here today. Philadelphia has taken seven of the last nine meetings with Miami, which includes four of the last five this season alone. The Marlins are the coldest team in baseball, riding a 12-game slide. Their lineup has been sputtering, while their pitching staff seems to be overworked and fatigued. Speaking of which, Zack Wheeler goes up against Tyler Phillips today. The Phillies right-hander has been remarkable this season, earning a 10-2 record with an ERA of 2.16, as the team has prevailed in 13 of his 16 starts. On the road in 2026, he has been superb, sporting a 6-1 mark with a 1.73 ERA, and over his career, he is 14-4 with a 2.59 ERA in 28 appearances, which happens to be all starts against the Marlins. The Miami right-hander is just 2-5 with a 3.52 ERA in 2026, and has only won one outing since mid-June. He has done well this season at home. However, he has made seven appearances against Philadelphia in his career, which includes two starts, going winless at 0-1 with a 5.93 ERA. I know Philadelphia has been struggling a bit. But facing Miami is just what the doctor ordered to turn things around. Take the Phillies. Thank you. | ||||||

It is also true the Cleveland Guardians are sitting in second place in the American League Central, 2.5-games back, at 54-53. It is also true the Guardians have taken two of three meetings so far in 2026 against the Reds. However, baseball is a very streaky sport. Right now, Cleveland is sliding while Cincinnati is starting to find their legs. The Guardians have dropped five in a row, being outscored by a combined, 28-10 during that span. Meanwhile, the Reds have won four of their last five with a combination of solid hitting and very strong pitching. Prior to this season, Cincinnati had gotten a better of Cleveland, taking five of the previous six matchups, all played between May and June last season. In my opinion, with a big difference in this matchup giving the home team a big edge is the starting pitchers. The Guardians will send Slade Cecconi to the hill while the Reds give Chase Burns the nod. The Cleveland right-hander is just 4-7 with a 4.60 ERA on the campaign, as he has seen his ERA skyrocket over his last three outings, going 0-1 with a 7.42 ERA. Over his career, Cecconi has struggled against Cincinnati, going winless at 0-3 with a 4.05 ERA. The Reds right-hander has been superb this season, earning a 12-1 record with a very respectable ERA of 2.42. Remarkably, the team has won his last seven turns, and 11 of his last 12 outings. At home this season has been nearly unbeatable, sporting a 6-1 mark with a 2.32 ERA. As I mentioned a moment ago, I feel the big difference in this matchup is the starting pitchers.
