Matchup Pick Rating Score Result Profit Analysis
Astros vs Guardians Guardians -147 Premium 2-0 Loss -147
Rating: 2 UnitsI’ve been fading the Astros a lot this season because of their pitching staff and it’s worked out up to this point. That doesn’t change here. Lambert has been horrible through five innings, posting a 7.20 ERA and 1.60 WHIP. Bibee has had his hiccups as well, with a 4.81 ERA and 1.52 WHIP, but he’s averaging nearly a strikeout per inning and his numbers are still better than anything the Astros are doing these days. It’s awful, folks. I’m going to continue betting against the Astros. Give me the Guardians.
Phillies vs Cubs Cubs -163 Premium 2-7 Win 100
Rating: 2 UnitsBoth teams are coming in opposite trajectories, as the red-hot Cubs, winners of seven straight, are facing the struggling Phillies, who have seven consecutive losses. The Phillies are going for a bullpen game but they rank 20th in bullpen ERA, while the Cubs are 11th. Boyd takes the mound for the Cubs in his return from an injury and he is coming off a quality start and the Phillies are weaker against lefties. Chicago also has the 5th-best offense in baseball, so keep it simple and take the Cubs once again to win.
Ducks vs Oilers Oilers -179 Premium 6-4 Loss -179
Rating: 2 UnitsThe Ducks limped into the postseason with bad form and losing game 1 the way they did probably doesn’t help with the confidence. The Ducks are probably the least attractive team in the field right now. The Oilers not only have played their best hockey at home this season, but they’re a veteran group that’s earned our trust over the years in the playoffs. Making back-to-back cup appearances, the Oilers know how to win this team of year and are trustworthy. These teams are in different zip codes in terms of form right now. I have to roll with the Oilers
Magic vs Pistons Magic +8½ -102 Premium 83-98 Loss -102
Rating: 2 UnitsThe Orlando Magic jumped on Detroit in Game 1 of this series, stealing home court with the upset victory. Look for Detroit to bounce back Wednesday night as they even this series at 1 game apiece. These 2 teams played each other tough all year, splitting their 4 regular-season matchups, so this game will be close. Despite Detroit pulling off the victory in this matchup, expect Orlando to play well for 48 minutes. Take the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night to get the win, but the Orlando Magic will cover the big number as they look for their 2nd consecutive upset in round 1 of the playoffs.
Blue Jays vs Angels Angels -155 Premium 3-7 Win 100
Rating: 2 UnitsIn my view, this matchup clearly favors the Los Angeles Angels. Jose Soriano has been one of the most dominant pitchers in baseball, entering this start with a 5–0 win-loss record, a 0.28 ERA and 39 strikeouts. Conversely, Eric Lauer carries a 7.13 ERA and has struggled with his command all season, putting Toronto at a major disadvantage on the road. With that said, I am backing the Los Angeles Angels on the moneyline in this game.
Orioles vs Royals Royals -127 Premium 8-6 Loss -127
Rating: 2 UnitsKansas City finally snapped their losing streak with a comeback victory on Tuesday night, but they have allowed 32 runs in their last four games. The Royals are 6-6 at home this year, while the Orioles are 5-7 on the road. Baltimore has lost three of their last four games and they have allowed 19 runs in their last three. Neither pitching staff has been very good recently, but Wacha has some elite numbers to start the season. Take Kansas City to get another win here.
Reds vs Rays Reds +125 Premium 1-6 Loss -100
Rating: 2 UnitsThe Reds have been red hot with a 7-1 record in their last 8 games, while the Rays have dropped three straight and have 24 earned runs in that span, but they don’t have the pitching advantage today as it might seem on paper. Brandon Williamson has only one earned run in his two road starts for the Reds, who have the best bullpen currently in baseball, as opposed to the Rays who rank 27th in bullpen ERA. On top of that, the Rays are weaker against left-handed pitching, so I like the Reds as road dogs in this spot. Take the Reds and the plus money.
